Employers required to comply with DOT drug and alcohol testing regulations must keep records of their testing activities.  This list provided by the DOT states that the following documents must be kept:

  • Test results.
  • Testing process administration.
  • Return-to-duty process administration.
  • Employee training.
  • Supervisor training.

The DOT requires that paper files of all DOT drug and alcohol test records are kept and stored in a secure location with controlled access.  This service can be provided through a third party administrator.  ASAP provides secure record keeping services for our clients for a minimum of five years.  The amount of time records must be kept various between each of the transportation industries.
