This week the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) released the Behavioral Health, US 2012 report. The 400 page biennial report features mental health and substance abuse statistics at the national and state levels from 40 data sources. The current issue focuses on three key chapters – Behavioral Health Disorders across the Life Span; Mental Health and Substance use Disorders: Impairment in Functioning; and Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders: Treatment Landscape.
The report also contains over 170 tables that cover the Behavioral Health of the Population, Behavioral Health Service Utilization, Behavioral Health Treatment Capacity, and Payer and Payment Mechanisms.
According to SAMHSA, the report is the only available comprehensive source of national level statistical information on trends in both public and private sector behavioral health services, costs, and clients.
