The DOT Issues a Request for Comments on the Drug and Alcohol Testing Program

On July 12, 2013 the DOT invited public comments on their intended request for approval to renew an information collection involving DOT Drug and Alcohol Testing.  The data collected will be used to document testing conducted and actions taken to ensure workplace safety and/or is necessary to comply with the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991.

The public is asked to comment on any aspect of the information collection process including:

  1. Whether the proposed collection of information is necessary for DOT’s performance
  2. The accuracy of the estimated burden
  3. Ways for the DOT to enhance the quality, utility and clarity of the information collection
  4. Ways that the burden could be minimized without reducing the quality of the collection information.
