There are several requirements to become a qualified DOT SAP including being a licensed physician, licensed social worker, EAP professional, licensed marriage and family therapist or Certified Drug and Alcohol counselor. Regulation training in addition to clinical experience in drug and alcohol treatment and diagnosis is also required.
