This course belongs to the ASAP Survey of Psychoactive Drugs series. Psychoactive drugs, chemical compounds that affect behavior, will be presented and discussed with the SAP/SAE in mind. Opioids is a class of drugs that includes the illicit drug heroin, as well as the legally prescribed pain relievers. This course will describe their origins, identify their chemical and psychoactive properties, explicate the public health nightmare, and describe current evidence-based approaches to treatment. Please note that an NRC Licensee may ask to review your SAE training and exam before approving you to consult with its employees.
